Fall Meeting of the Congregational Christian Council of Maine

Held at South Paris Congregational Church

October 26, 2019

 

 

Breakfast was served at 7:30am.  A hearty thank you to all of the cooks there at the church!

 

Rev. Don Mayberry welcomed the council and guests.

 

Rev. Fred Fortier asked for announcements and handouts were provided for the council.

 

The officers of the council were recognized.

 

Prayer was given by Rev. Mayberry.

 

The Scribe Rev. Dr. Michael Glidden gave the roll call of the church with 12 churches in attendance. 

 

Necrology report was read:

 

1.    David Hayes of Newfield Community Church

2.    South Paris has lost members.

3.    East Baldwin has lost members.

 

A moment of silence was given.

 

Rev. Glidden gave the scribes report.

 

1.    Rev. Fred Fortier was ordained at Sebago Center.  The scribe sent Rev. Fortier a parchment for his achievement.

2.    Rev. Glidden has accepted the call to be pastor at North Deering in Sept 2019.  Installation will be at the beginning of the New Year.

3.    Warren is still looking for pastoral candidates.

4.    Pastor Don Greene is the new minister at Lubec and will be ordained in the Spring.  An ecclesiastical council will be announced at a later date.

 

Rev. Fortier gave thanks for a wonderful breakfast!

 

Rhonda Glidden gave the treasurers report and was accepted without comment.

 

Old Business:

 

Rev. Seth Jones gave an update on the 2020 celebration in June.  The dates will be June 27-30, 2020.  He will keep us posted.

 

Rhonda Glidden is updating the CCC Website.

We are currently working on a Facebook page. 

Rev. Fortier stated that anyone on the council is encouraged to maintain and post info to our sites.

 

There was discussion on the amendment change for 2yr terms for all of the officers in the council.  At the Spring meeting a vote will be taken. 

 

Rev. Doug Drown gave the report of the Washington County Assoc. 

 

New Business:

 

Camp Winni is having a retreat a Skowhegan this weekend.

 

The nominating committee has elected Robin Quinn to serve for the upcoming year.

 

The Spring Meeting will be held at Sawyer Memorial in Jonesport on April 25, 2020.  Mark your calendars.

Several churches gave updates on the ministry.

 

Rev. Seth Jones mentioned that Ed Gabrielsen is an intern at the Rockland Church this year.  Mr. Gabrielsen is a seminarian at Perkins in Dallas Texas and will graduate in 2020.

 

The council recessed for snacks.

 

The Council concluded with a communion service after a wonderful lunch!
