Second Congregational Church

Biddeford, Maine

Second Congregational Church was gathered in 1797 after several parishioners left First Parish, out at Biddeford Pool. It took a few years to establish orthodoxy and apply as a church, so for awhile they were known as the Second Religious Society, and then became a church in 1805.Today's building was placed on site in 1850, replacing a smaller building which was moved around the corner by oxen and was bought by the Free Will Baptists. The Sunday School wing was added in the 1960's.
